Passion

The importance of passion in life has been on my mind over the past year or so. It was reiterated in my mind as I watched the video of Guy Kawasaki. I enjoyed how he points out that money is as important as finding your passion. People do not become rich because they want to, they become rich off of their passions.

Located on the whiteboard next to my desk at work is the quote "Successful people are passionate about something. True success is measured by the level of passion that you have for something," Larry King. I remember listening to Larry King say that and thinking, "Wow, isn't it interesting that you can measure your success in life from the level of passion that you have for something?" As I have thought more and more about what it means to have passion about something, and what that passion does for you, I think about what Guy Kawasaki says. He said, "we should be more concerned about changing the world than making money."

Passion in life leads us to levels of success that many people in life don't achieve. It allows us to focus on the things that matter most, rather than those things that can distract us. Passion makes life easier. It makes getting up and going to work every day a joy, rather than an obligation. If we truly have the passion for what we do, everything else will seem to fall into place.
