Magdalena Yesil

This week of class was a real discovery of the desire behind our pursuit of success. Success does not have a true definition in my opinion. Quite the opposite in fact. Success is determined by each individual's value system. Success to me can be completely different than someone who is also taking this class. I could value success as the pursuit of financial freedom. To be truly successful, I have to do whatever it takes to make money, by any means necessary. On the contrary, another could view success as the ability to provide comfortably within their family, while keeping their value system intact. (I should have used myself as the latter person!) As I read the different stories, looked at the case study of Magdalena Yesil, and pondered about the principles being taught, I had to look into my value system and determine what my definition of success truly was. I love the principle taught by Elder Lynn Robbins when he states, "What you do to make a living, or how many doll...

Bucket List

This week of the course brought a lot of perspective on the things that are really important. What are the things that matter most? How do I figure out where I want my life to go, and the things that I want to accomplish? The most important things in my life have to be my family. The underlying feeling as I thought of things to do, was how can this help me become closer to my family? When I thought of things in those terms, it made it much easier to brainstorm ideas to put on my life. The Questions Why was Dr. Pausch able to...

Getting Started

It's exciting to be starting a new blog to keep track of the feelings and thoughts that come to me from this course. Having a goal to be an entrepreneur, I become part of thousands of people from all over the world who are striving to change the world in their own way. Being an entrepreneur creates an opportunity for you to determine and direct your own life and direction. What a great opportunity and experience lie ahead. As I went through this courses material I felt this overwhelming feeling of excitement. Surprisingly the video Start-Up of you was the most impactful to me. Although it was a shorter video, it highlighted the great excitement that is you can have when you are an entrepreneur. In the video, it showed Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah, Steve Jobs, and others. All of those people, as famous as they may be, started out in the same way I did. They looked at a challenge or goal in front of them and said, "I can do it!" We too must look at ourselves and say, "It ...
