Bucket List
This week of the course brought a lot of perspective on the things that are really important. What are the things that matter most? How do I figure out where I want my life to go, and the things that I want to accomplish? The most important things in my life have to be my family. Using the time that we have here in this life should be to the betterment of our families, and not in achieving personal accolades and achievements. I think as we look to be our best-selfs, and strive to be the best family members, then the other things will fall into place.
As I was writing my bucket list I continued to search for things that I thought would be meaningful or important. There was a lot of places to travel, things to buy or own, and so forth. The underlying feeling as I thought of things to do, was how can this help me become closer to my family? When I thought of things in those terms, it made it much easier to brainstorm ideas to put on my life.
The Questions
Why was Dr. Pausch able to accomplish so many things in life? I think it was simple, he didn't put limitations on himself. Although failure is part of life, limitations are something that we put on ourselves. Breaking through or going over brick walls created an attitude of perseverance that helped him achieve so much.
Is dreaming important? YES! Dreaming creates something within us that pushes us to aspire to something greater than what we are currently doing. Even when we accomplish or live out one of our dreams, we must continue to dream to become better and gain a sense of accomplishment.
A childhood dream that I had when I was younger was to build my own house. This wasn't a dream that I can pinpoint started at a certain point. Growing up around with a lot of construction on our home made me want to create a house exactly how I wanted for me and my family. That dream is still in front of me, and I am working towards the financial means to be able to buy property and live my dream.
